Parvovirus outbreak controls in admission and observation blocks
A confirmed case of parvovirus is in isolation. Until further notice the admission and observation blocks are under enhanced cleaning, intakes are suspended into those blocks and every worker must use the foot baths and change gloves between zones. Volunteers are not to enter the amber or red zones. Report any dog with vomiting or diarrhoea to the Senior Veterinarian immediately.

Sharps disposal toolbox talk, Shepparton clinic
Following a near miss on 5 September, all clinic staff will attend a ten-minute toolbox talk on sharps handling and disposal at 7:45 am on 15 September in the treatment room. A second sharps container is now fitted at the surgery prep bench. Anyone rostered off must see Aisha for an individual briefing.

Adoption open day, Saturday 3 October
The spring adoption open day runs from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Bendigo region shelter. Behaviour staff will run meet and greet sessions, the salon will offer nail clips by donation and the council registration desk will be on site. Volunteers who want to help must complete the event briefing on 30 September.

Monthly welfare and safety review
The September welfare and safety review is on 24 September at 2:00 pm in the head office meeting room. Department leads must submit incident summaries, animal outcome figures and any overdue corrective actions by 21 September. The Duke bite investigation will be presented for review.

Extreme heat preparations for the boarding centre
With warmer weather approaching, the Echuca region centre has installed additional shade cloth over the exercise yards and tested the cooling fans. From 1 October, kennel staff will check water and shade hourly on days forecast above 35 degrees, in line with the Emergency and Animal Evacuation Plan. Cooling mats are stored in the salon cupboard.
